Hostess with the Mostest

So my main chick from home, Adi, came to visit the other weekend. She came for homecoming which was awesome because she got the full experience of a SHU football game. Having a friend from home come to visit can be complicated though. It's a little awkward intermingleing school friends and home friends. But, it's all about balance. You have to make sure your friend feels comfortable while making sure your SHU fam feels the same.

Living with your friends is completely different than the relationships we built in high school. You become more of a family than a group of friends. That being said, its a little intimidating for home friends when they visit. Luckily, my friends are awesome and love my best friends from home. They all get along great which is sick for me because it's so easy when they come to visit. But still, there are some guidelines to stick to when having a friend come to your school.

1. Be a good host. It's all about making your friend feel at home. I made sure my bestie had somewhere to sleep and all the things she might need. Mostly, I just made sure there was a bottle of Burnetts with her name on it...
2. Show them the ropes. Make sure you take your friends all over campus and let them see where and how you live. It's a cool thing to see how other schools work. From campus food to the school halls show them everything!
3. Make sure they have fun! You gotta show your friend a good time. That's really the most important part of having a visitor come. I made sure to take Adi to a sick bar and have her wasted at the football game. It was a lot of fun and she definitely left her mark on SHU.

So whether you're having someone come to your school or going to visit someone at theirs, make it easy on both of you. Really just enjoy hanging out together and make the most of it.
